Every Thursday of the year is conveniently highlighted in green so you won’t forget to stop by and pick up your favorite produce or goodies. Handsome calendars are sometimes hard to find, so be sure to get yours while supplies last. If you’ve already got one, pick one up for a friend or neighbor and help us spread the word about our great farmers market.

Get your Super Bowl of guacamole, chips, and salsa – –
It’s that time of year again when sports fans indulge in one of the biggest parties of the year. When I say big party – I mean 15.5 Billion dollars big! That’s a lot of pizza, beer, chips, salsa, and guacamole. If this is your favorite sporting event of the year, be sure to stop by the Farmers Market this week to pick up your super bowl snacks.

We’ll have fresh salsa, guacamole, and ceviche. If nuts are more your thing, there will be variety of salted and flavored pistachios as well as freshly hulled pecans.  And for those of you with a sweet tooth there is always a great selection of tasty pastries, pies, cookies, and candy.

Super Bowl Food Trivia:
Did you know that nearly $330 million was spent on pizza during 2018’s super bowl weekend. Guacamole is always a great party favorite, but get this, roughly 278 million avocados (139 million pounds) were consumed during last year’s game. That’s not a super bowl of guacamole that  is more like a super mountain. Salsa was another favorite which saw sports fans spend more than $41 million. Chips – 11.2 millions pounds. Chicken wings – 1.3 billion wings. Curious about beer?  Nearly 325 million gallons will be consumed – that’s over 492 Olympic size swimming pools full.
