Sierra Vista Farmers Markets
Growing Together Since 2005
Echoing Hope Ranch – –
Let me tell you about Echoing Hope Ranch, one of our newest vendors at the Sierra Vista Farmers Markets. Echoing Hope Ranch is a beautiful and peaceful ranch along the San Pedro River in Hereford, Arizona. While they provide fresh grown produce each week for our market, the real beauty of the EHR is that they are a place where adults and teens with autism can learn and grow in a safe and productive environment. Echoing Hope rose out of the need for families with autistic children to provide opportunities for their children to live productive lives as they grew older. The produce you see at their booth each week is evidence that their dream to see children and adults with autism lead more productive and enriching lives is being fulfilled. So please stop by EHR booth and say hello. Even if is just an encouraging word, please help support their great organization. To learn more about Echoing Hope Ranch and how you can help visit their website at www.echoinghoperanch.org
This week the U of A Cooperative Extension will be back at the market with their AZ Health Zone cooking demonstrations. This week’s demonstration will be healthy pasta salad. For more information about the AZ Health Zone check out their website at: https://www.azhealthzone.org/resources
Be Healthy! Sierra Vista will also have a booth set up at the market and they will be showcasing various healthy programs/agencies. Be sure to stop by their booth and check out their free resources and community information.
The Cochise Shrine Club Onion Fundraiser
For the month of May, the Cochise Shrine Club will be selling freshly harvested Vidalia onions for their annual fundraiser. They are selling 5 pound bags of onions for $6.00. And in case you are wondering, Vidalia onions are named historically after the town of Vidalia in Georgia. These onions are unusually sweet in comparison with other onions due to the low sulfur content in the ground where they are grown. Yellow Grannex onions are a hybrid of the Vidalia onion and can be grown successfully in Cochise County as a short day onion. Yellow Grannex onions will be available at the Sierra Vista Farmers Markets from our regular vendors starting in June or July.
