Spring Break Festival and Plant Exchange – – –
If you would like a fun way to begin your spring gardening season, then stop by the market this week and participate in our plant exchange. Simply bring a potted plant (big or small) and look for another vendor or visitor who might be willing to exchange plants with you. You don’t need to spend any money just bring, what you have (house plants, garden plants, etc.).

Winnie will have several potted plants at the information booth and I’ll be bringing a small cutting of my Brown Turkey Fig just about ready to leaf out. So bring a plant and have some fun trading your plant with friends, vendors, or other Sierra Vista Farmers Market customers looking for something new and different to plant in their gardens this spring.

Fun For the Kids This Week
This week we’ll also have some fun activities for children. We’ll have a spring arts corner for drawing with Bob (Queen Ceviche’s Dad) and “plant your own Ruby Hyacinth Bean Arbor” to nurture your children’s green thumb. Julie will be back with her super soft Angora rabbits. Come on by and pet these gentle critters. While you are there, ask Julie to tell you about how she gathers her rabbit’s wool. Thunder Mountain Alpaca Ranch will be at the market this week with Hunk the Llama and Baarney the Navajo Churro sheep.

Snap and Double Up Now Accepted
We finally jumped through all the hoops necessary to provide EBT at the Sierra Vista Farmers Markets. We appreciate all of you who have patiently waited for us to get this program up and running again, but we’ve tested the equipment last week and we are good to go. We look forward to serving you.

Artisans, Craft, and Body Care Vendor’s Spotlight

Maggie’s Dog Treats

Maggie’s Dog Treats & Accessories will have 5 different flavors of all fresh natural treats. The Chamomile  treats are selling very well as  “Bed Treats”. Zia says they are just the thing for a good night’s sleep for your dog. Zia will also have a variety of CBS treats and oils for dogs and cats.

K-1 Kreations

K-1 owner Kris is one of our regular vendors. Her product line includes aprons, coaster, pot holders, dish rags, table runners, and  tote bags made out of unique fabric patterns. She loves special orders and will customize anything, even cloth pin bags or a grocery bag holder, just ask her.

Greenstone Pottery & Crafts
Charlatta and Eric are full-blooded Navajo and proud of their heritage.  Their pride and skill bring you genuine hand made Navajo artisan works that you will not find anywhere else at the market. Winnie was intrigued by their cedar berry necklaces which are made from the seeds found in juniper berries. Those seeds are also used in dream catchers and their pottery. Stop by and ask them to tell you about their fine works of art.

Special Announcements and Events
We have a new date for the Sierra Vista Community Gardens work day. It will be March 23 at 8 am. There are many small projects that need work as well as two larger endeavors. So they would really like a good turn out for their work day. Don’t forget hat, gloves, water, and any tools you would like to use.

Music this week will be by the Simmons Family Music Band

We hope to see you all at the Market this week!
